  • + Living at or behind the LOS: Barrels into the chest of interior lineman (specifically centers) gaining inside hand placement. Knockback strength at the POA through leverage and gained force.

  • + Length and quickness: Arm length is abnormal for a NT w/ snap anticipation and plus short area quickness. Locks out and out-reaches centers, Below average ground covered through first step, but demonstrates good quickness into upfield stance.

  • + Nasty finisher: Motor runs pretty hot w/ good effort through the whistle. Shows nasty mindset battling on the interior. Nimble short steps and adequate downhill speed helps close on ball carriers and come up w/ effort production.

  • - Block responses: Lateral movement skills are below average working to maintain a low pad level at the same time. Lacking some down block recognition (thrown off his spot) and will get caught out of the play through recognition or enters w/ bad angles.

  • - Pass rush package: Knockback and walk-back potential pop up when he squares into offensive lineman. However, pass rush attempts will completely stall w/o initial knockback success into the lineman’s chest. Not going to get an edge on guards through pass rush plan beyond his snap anticipation and counters are not strung together.

Nesta Jade Silvera is set to play nose tackle in shade alignments (2i). His lateral quickness and recognition force hit and miss results against the run, but his leverage, length and good snap awareness allow him to play at or behind the line on most reps. A talented prospect w/ plus effort that needs to find more consistency, but will likely draw attention before the season. Not built to be a consistent pass rusher, but can occasionally push the pocket and clean up plays.
