  • Runs at a similar speed through the route can limit windows open for passes (will need to be really good in the NFL)

  • Slight push-off at top of routes doesn’t create much space

  • Contested catches/ jump balls not much of a threat

  • Without much route strength- asked to battle within 1 yard of LOS and drag underneath- could be knocked off route

  • Not asked to run very crisp routes/ rounds the middle, flats or vertical from the outside

  • Burst out of cuts really limits separation

  • Doesn’t sell in and out cuts very well- speed clearly changes

  • Release balance could be a problem/ can fight off defenders but should improve consistency

  • Dial down at top of routes isn’t always clean (stiff)

  • Breakaway route speed is middling

  • Inconsistent high point timing jump/ late hands at peak

  • Passes get through hands and into body even on jump balls

  • Ball can bobble into body tuck- ball security

  • Release effort varies based on play- can explode when he wants to (short route concepts tight to formation)

  • Struggled to get off line at times (senior bowl 1on1)

  • Multiple drops in 1on1 senior bowl practices off cuts

  • Needs stronger hands to be reliable (has improved)

  • Chest high passes/ seems to lack some confidence in hands (waits for ball on screens) double catches some passes

  • Didn’t show ability to snag passes behind him w/o setting feet

Run-After-Catch/Blocking

  • 0 to 100 on screens speed/ incredible upfield burst

  • Legitimate run after catch threat- elusive/ quickness

  • Catches when blocking- doesn’t drive into defenders

Role/Grade: Romeo can be very dangerous in RAC, separation upside is extremely high, however there is a lack of confidence in hands which is tough to take a shot on. 5.5 Grade

  • Fairly limited route tree demonstrated in offense (posts, outs, wheels, deep ins) very limited on the line

  • Arm extension has been flagged (back shoulder vs Kansas State)

  • Oklahoma State QB was throwing passes to Martin before seeing him out of his cut/ total trust to be where he needs to be on time- great timing receiver

  • Pro style timing PA routes noted attacking middle of field

  • Willing to leave his feet and sky for passes on in breaking routes/ finish process w/ contact

  • Basketball background shows up

  • Very fluid route runner (expanded route tree mid-deep routes/ best work vs off-coverage

  • Pass catch technique can get wonky on contested grabs

  • Not a big time jump-ball guy even at his size

  • Some passes get a little close to body and can be slipped through hands into weird catch form (Scoop grabs)

  • Below average acceleration through route stem/ doesn’t create much space out of breaks

  • Natural ball carrier - switched ball to hand closest to sideline- makes his money by putting on the brakes

  • Tad limited athlete- but contact balance is there and a big part of his game (RAC)

  • Nice coverage feel for open spaces- sideline awareness noted (Northwestern TD)

  • Deep speed very threatening for press corners/ can slam on the breaks for hitches (Northwestern CB went down)

  • Lets chest high passes into body- worried about catch technique/ didn’t pluck passes away from body, worked to line up ball w/ body

  • Leaves feet on quick hitches above his head

  • (Arms flale to show burst but time-up underneath routes) Good burst off the line on deeper routes

  • Separation (play speed) at top of routes didn’t match 40 time- could separate more w/ more precise cuts

  • Inconsistent through press off the release, however does show some power in hands to swipe off

  • Willing blocker (hit on Michigan S) used in many offensive sets/ not a mover, more of a catcher

  • Uses body instead of plucking passes outside of frame (behind/forced to reposition body)- not trusting ability he has unless forced to

  • Can be a slight bobble working catches into body (double catches)

  • Pass catching reach is limited

  • Rarely saw press coverage (slot)

  • Route strength on the outside

  • Used as a lead blocker pulling on run plays (LSU)/ backside blocker- not a mover (catcher) but smart avoid flags

  • Picks up blocks downfield in pass game away from him (LSU ran over DB)

  • Punt returner potential (9 ret for 203yds 2021)

Role/Grade: Slot receiver could play Z in certain situations (movement)

  • Natural pass catcher

  • Top heavy/ balance on underneath routes (will make money 10+ yards down the field)

  • Intermediate route running got rounded

  • Some routes got sluggish if not designed to go his way (not 100% all the time)

  • Very competitive, will play DB with bad passes- also a very powerful blocker that finishes

  • Works for extra yards after the catch- hurdles/battles to break tackles

  • Would like to see hold route longer before getting head around to create more separation on vertical routes

  • Underneath sit-downs routes didn’t create much space due to unorthodox release

  • Off-coverage release could be more consistent (Uses step back when in tight coverage)

  • Goes down attacking middle grabs- protecting himself

  • Very thin build- has gotten shoved off routes/ timing can be thrown off

  • Early release vs Jam coverage is very raw (basically tackled OKSU corner)
