Tight End
Davis Allen Clemson
6057 246 (Arm 32 1/4- 10 Hands) 38 1/2 vert/4.84 40
+ Great concentration at catch point/ Plays through congestion. Throwback pure red-zone threat w/ post up and feel to box out defenders.
+ Sound blocker w/ pass protection upside: under control into contact, Understands angles into contact w/ balance and works for inside hand placement (High FBI to quickly find work when QB takes off) keeps base and foot movement and explosively shoots off the line (38 1/2 vert) into good angles for cut-off blocks -Impressive for a young prospect (22.1yrs)
- Route separation upside is limited: Limited long speed and quickness to separate from DBs or todays LBs in coverage.
- Impact blocking: Maintaining connection into the second level is less impactful w/o consistent force to dictate blocks. Little movement is created inline, more of a position blocker currently.
- Pacing and threatening through the route tree: Below average quickness off the line doesn’t threaten defenders, leans on hand swipes to get clean early. (Handful of examples of the ball beating the route development)
5.8 Grade
Get him isolated with a smaller defender in the red-zone and let him go get it. Sound blocking technique in-line and in space, Allen doesn’t bring the impact blocks currently, but demonstrates the feel and effort level to become reliable in PA pass protection sets and a versatile run blocker. Receiving can be improved w/ better feel for attacking man coverage (scheme) and sitting in zone holes, but will be limited as a separator and doesn’t bring much RAC upside outside of effort.
Tucker Kraft SDSU
6046 254 (Arm 32 3/4- 10 Hands) 36 1/2 vert/23BP/4.69 40
+ RAC Ability is legit: Contact balance, strength, and sufficient speed (9 missed tackles forced/25 broken tackles) Former RB HS
+ Tough and Nasty blocker/ Finishes and looks to dominate smaller defenders/ 2nd level force/ Plus power for an in-line blocker, holds his own vs defensive ends
+ Size/Strength/Plus Athlete (pass catching agility away from body w/ soft hands catcher, that rolls into RAC)
- High cut linear blocker/ hit and miss entry angles (squeezes air space working the line, but allows open lanes inside inline or oversets, setting an edge)
- Route craftiness, adequate acceleration off the line and seam speed, but rolls through routes w/o much creativity
- Elusiveness as a route runner and w/ the ball
6.3 Grade
Tough, w/ well-rounded athletic build (testing numbers show it) and the strength to sit in-line. Flex ability due to his RAC (got designed runs in college). Needs polish as a route runner and in-line blocker, but has a latch ability w/ big hands and in space or 2nd level drive most TEs don’t.
